Bebe Berg Celebrates Her 100th Birthday

Harlawhill celebrated a very special milestone when our member Isabella ‘Bebe’ Berg became the first Harlawhill member to reach 100 years old on 9 September 2026.

Bebe celebrated at Castlepark Bowling Club surrounded by her Harlawhill family, relatives, friends and supporters. She received more than 100 birthday cards, including one sent by a supporter in Africa.

Instead of presents, Bebe asked people to support Harlawhill’s new minibus appeal. Her birthday appeal raised £1,400, with additional Gift Aid increasing the value of the donations.

Reflecting on the day, Bebe said: ‘I don’t feel any older than 99. I feel just like I did the first day I came to the Centre.’

The celebrations were made even more special by support from local people and businesses. Tony from TT Taxis brought Bebe to the party in style, Tom Knight paid for the catering, and FoodzUp in Tranent provided soup, sausage rolls, pies and individual afternoon teas.
