Local Heroes Transform Harlawhill Member’s Home

A heart-warming show of community spirit brought local businesses together to transform the home of one of our members living with stage 4 terminal cancer.

When it became clear that existing carpets were making breathing more difficult, local businesses stepped in to help make the home safer, more comfortable and easier to live in.

East Coast Carpets donated the materials and covered fitting costs, while Jonathan Carruthers of J.C. Joinery & Flooring donated his labour. The result was a complete transformation carried out through generosity, practical help and a real desire to support someone in difficult circumstances.

Our member said: ‘I have been overwhelmed by the kindness shown to me and the generosity of those involved in doing the work and providing all the materials.’

The story was a powerful reminder of the strength of the local community around Prestonpans and East Lothian, and of what can happen when people simply decide to help.
