The Harlawhill Team

Our Staff

All our staff have a wealth of experience in their roles and bring so much knowledge  to our centre. They are all highly trained and maintain abreast of new developments in the Caring Sector. They are the cogs that make the wheels turn and regularly go above and beyond for our clients.

Fiona Mitchell

Centre Manager
I am the Centre manager at Harlawhill and have worked here since 1993, when the Centre was in it’s infancy. So much has changed over the years as we have developed the Centre and adapted it to what it is today, a warm, friendly, welcoming space. As a local Prestonpans girl I feel so privileged to be part of such a loving, kind and generous community. Their continued support over the years has made so much possible for so many of the elderly clients we care for.

Gillian Hanratty

Senior Care Worker
I am the Senior Care Worker at Harlawhill and have been involved in the care industry for a number of years, previously working for the Church of Scotland caring for adults with special needs. I also have responsibility for the Volunteers, making sure we have the right people in place to provide a safe and friendly environment for our clients.

Tricia Henderson

Carer / Bus Escort
I am one of the Care Workers at Harlawhill as well as doing Passenger Assistant duties, collecting and returning clients to their homes. I have a background as a personal carer for many years and enjoy taking part in the many activities we do here.

Louise Lamb

Kitchen Assistant / Bus Escort
I am the Kitchen Assistant at Harlawhill but have a background as a Care Worker and fill in as one when required as well as doing Passenger Assistant duties on our bus. I enjoy dancing along with the clients and pampering the ladies when they need their nails done.

Yvonne McAulay

Morning Driver
I am the morning bus driver and collect all the clients, greeting them with a cheery smile. I am a local girl and have had a previous career in the Armed Forces.

Joe Scott

Afternoon Driver
I am the afternoon driver and make sure the clients all get home safely after a hard day’s activities at the Centre

Our Trustees

As a small charity we have a board of trustees who are all volunteers and dedicate their time behind the scenes to make sure everything runs smoothly. Their hard work and determination ensures the we have the funds to continue to provide treats, entertainment and excursions for all of our clients as well as obtain all the neccessary equipment for our Centre. Without their efforts we would be lost.

Jean Thomson B.E.M.

Chairperson
I have been involved with Harlawhill Day Care Centre since it was just a dream of it's founder Dr Pat Gracie. Even after 29 years I am still as passionate about the Centre today as I was then although I may have a few more grey hairs now.
